Pacific Coast All-stars  ~ ONLY 3 TEAMS LEFT

This is the 3rd incarnation of a 23 year old  league started as a face 2 face Beer drinking league on Wednesday nights in 1986.  We had GMs go to Desert Storm and come back to assume their former teams.  Because the league is structured for fun. It's a 7 team league so one team gets a buy.  We play one 3 game series once a week during the course of the regular MLB season.  With 7 teams, the talent is abundant. So the level of play is "INTENSE".  The season is usually 90 games long. (30 weeks) We play on-line and prefer to get everyone into the "Yahoo" voice chat room at the same time.  We draft 4 times a year. We use 40 man Rosters and the 25/15 mode.  Trades are unlimited but the deadline is August 31.  We don't use Usage so you can use the same 5 starters all year.  But we do have requirements for league eligibility.  40/80/180     Relievers/Starters/Hitters   AND It's a DH league.  We expand to an active 40 man roster in September (just like the majors) We tried to make the computer version as close to the "Board Game" as possible.  That's why we turned off usage and many of the super advanced options. In addition to our 40 man roster; we have a 27 man rookie roster of non- MLB players. (college, HS, minors or active that don't meet the 40/80/180 mins) Once a player on this list becomes eligible you must put him on your roster or cut him. The expansion teams are available to scout if you are interested. (They are 25 man rosters. You can modify the last 15 in the next two drafts)  We will be drafting again in October and one last time before the 2010 season in March (after the discs come) If you have any questions about rules, requirements or rosters, please email me.  Everyone is welcome to apply.  Even Canadians.....

I am venturing into starting up a new SOM  basketball league, the SNDL, with several unique features that will really help realism and make the league more exciting and enjoyable.

1. The annual Rookie draft will be an actual rookie draft featuring freshly drafted NBA players. For instance this year's draft crop will consist of Blake Griffin, Threatt, Ricky Rubio etc. On an annual basis just after the NBA draft is conducted we will hold our draft for just drafted players. Giving SNDL owners the opportunity to match wits with the NBA brain-trust. As is the NBA we will draft 2 rounds, though our draft will be serpentine (1-24, 24-1).

We will have 9 keepers per team per year so there will also be an annual Free Agent draft each season. Since the team with the worst record will pick first in each draft, both will be serpentine drafts.

2. 75% Use Him or Lose Rule. Any player a teams intends to keep for the following season must be played at least 75% of his minutes to be retained. This works 2-fold, it makes sure weaker teams play their better players (nothing I Hate worse than tanking) and also makes sure that stronger teams player all players and aren't allowed to be loaded at a one position.

3. In baseball leagues when teams take on a name they also get their home field. It gives them an identity. From the onset when franchises are selected they will also take R/L franchises and also that teams defensive card. This will be for all seasons of the SNDL. So if you draft Memphis you will use Memphis' defensive card in all subsequent seasons of the SNDL. We will have a minimum of 24 teams.
