Baseball Players of the Month and Pitchers of the Month (April 2017): Mike Trout and Ryan Zimmerman, Dallas Keuchel and Ivan Nova

Congratulations to the Baseball Players of the Month for April 2017, Mike Trout and Ryan Zimmerman, and to the Baseball Pitchers of the Month for April 2017, Dallas Keuchel and Ivan Nova!

Mike Trout needs no introduction. The perennial MVP candidate started strong in April, batting .364/.443/.707 with 18 runs, 7 home runs, and 18 RBIs. Flashing a brilliant glove in the field as always, Trout is no stranger to the Player of the Month distinction, capturing his 4th such award.

Ryan Zimmerman has experienced a renaissance. His first Player of the Month win in a 13 year career is well deserved. Per MLB.com, he "led the Majors in hits (37), RBIs (29), batting average (.420), slugging percentage (.886), OPS (1.345) extra-base hits (19), and he tied for the MLB lead in home runs (11)." No argument here!

Dallas Keuchel

is a big reason for the Astros’ lead in the AL West. He went 5-0 with a 1.21 ERA in six April starts and struck out 36 opposing batters. This is his fourth win, with three of them coming in his blistering 2015 Cy Young-winning season. He also tied Roger Clemens for the Astros franchise record for wins in a single month.

Ivan Nova got a change of scenery last season and it has paid off big time. He has more complete games as a Pirate (5) than walks (4)! Nova previously won the award in 2013 as a Yankee in 2013, and he becomes the first Pirate to win since Gerritt Cole in 2015. He went 3-2 with a 1.50 ERA, throwing an astounding average of 87 pitches per outing.

For 72 HOURS ONLY, Strat-O-Matic will be offering an April 2017 card for each of these four players. Don’t miss out on these limited edition cards! The cards will be available for purchase until Monday, May 8th at Noon ET.
