STRAT-O-MATIC TO RELEASE CLASSIC 1962 BASEBALL SEASON

Strat-O-Matic to release 1962 season in February

Strat-O-Matic will be releasing the 1962 baseball season as next years featured classic season re-creation. The 1962 season will be available in Super Advanced format as both a card set for the board game as well as a season roster for the Windows game.
Highlights of the 1962 season include:
  • New York (AL) defeats San Francisco in 7-game World Series
  • San Francisco edges Los Angeles (NL) 2 games to 1 in the NL Pennant Tiebreaker Series
  • First year of expansion in the National League
  • Detroit leads the sport in home runs with 209
  • Los Angeles (NL) doubles up the second place team with 198 stolen bases
  • Most Valuable Players: Maury Wills (Los Angeles – NL) and Mickey Mantle (New York – AL)
  • Cy Young Award winner: Don Drysdale (Los Angeles – NL)
  • Rookies of the Year: Tom Tresh (New York – AL) and Ken Hubbs (Chicago NL)

1962 will be available for pre-order starting in mid-January along with the rest of the new baseball products, including the 2019 season. All new baseball products are scheduled to be released in early February.

More exciting new items for 2020 will be revealed in the coming weeks leading up to the first day of pre-orders, which has yet to be announced.

    The original 1962 set was the first year that I played SOM in 1963. The re-creation will be a must buy for me……..it will Christmas in February, I cannot wait.

    62 was a great season; Yanks, Giants, Dodgers,, Mets and many future HOF players. Probably the last strong Mantle-led Yankee team. Good choice SOM! I will buy this set when available.

    It is great news, but someone at SOM please realize one set/ year isn’t enough, many C&D players will die before they get to play seasons they want to play

    I hope when the season of 1962 gets printed they will also be on the original card stock love the old card stock even if we have to pay a little more for it

    I can not wait for this season to come out. For future years, I would love to see 1903 get made. That was the first year of the modern World Series.

    Great season. Would love to see some 1970s seasons issued next: 72, 76, 79, and please re-print/re-issue 75 and 78. The 70s are when a lot of older Strat fans first got into the game, and Im certain these would be big sellers. We arent getting any younger out here : ). Looking forward to the new seasons.
