New York (NL) Lineup Simulations

New York (NL) began its season on Monday with an impressive 3-1 victory over reigning division champion Washington – but not without controversy.

Reports by some members of the New York media after the game have suggested that the Opening Day lineup may not have been created by Manager Terry Collins, but rather, by General Manager Sandy Alderson.

While it is unclear who exactly came up with the idea for Monday’s lineup, Strat-O-Matic decided to simulate New York’s season using the Opening Day lineup versus the perceived traditional lineup.

1. Granderson
2. Wright
3. Duda
4. Cuddyer
5. Murphy
6. Lagares
7. d’Arnaud
8. Flores
9. Pitcher

RUNS PER GAME: 4.25

TOTAL RUNS FOR SEASON: 689
EXPECTED WIN-LOSS RECORD: 90-72

PERCEIVED TRADITIONAL LINEUP
1. Lagares
2. Murphy
3. Wright
4. Duda

SUMMARY: The Opening Day lineup would yield approximately 13 more runs over the course of a full 162-game season, which would equate to one more win in the standings.
