1979-80 Hockey Season Roster
- Islanders’ 1st Cup derails Montreal dynasty
- Gretzky MVP as he, WHA join NHL
- Philadelphia’s 35-game unbeaten streak

Despite Gretzky and Mark Messier, their Edmonton Oilers were no match for Bobby Clarke’s Philadelphia, with the longest unbeaten streak in North American sports history, or for Bryan Trottier’s Islanders, who won the first of four straight Stanley Cups.
