The second year in the United States Football League’s short life was its best on the field, as five teams won at least 13 regular-season games and the sixth team in this set, Arizona, made it to the title game after going 10-8. Sold as spring football with big-name players and coaches, the USFL featured Heisman Trophy RB Herschel Walker, who ran for 1,000 yards for the 14-4 New Jersey Generals; Houston’s rookie QB Jim Kelly, who passed for 5,219 yards and 44 TDs; and Arizona’s charismatic coach, George Allen. Former NFL stars Joe Cribbs (1,467 rush yards for Birmingham) and Kelvin Bryant (1,406 rush yards for Philly) also ran wild. Tampa scored nearly 500 points.
This is a 6-team card set. The entire 18-team 1984 USFL is available in the computer version.
