For the first time since 2006, the Angels missed the playoffs and for the first time since 2003, the Angels were not a winning team. The Angels did not have the offense, finishing 10th in batting average, 11th in hits and 13th in on-base percentage. Kendry Morales hit 11 home runs but missed the final four months with a freak leg injury. Torrii Hunter remained productive and shifted to right field in midseason but Bobby Abreu’s average dipped to .255. Jered Weaver was a CY Young contender as he claimed the AL strikeout title. Ervin Santana pitched four complete games while winning a career-high 17 games.
