Oakland’s young pitching began to take shape as Trevor Cahill was among the AL win leaders. Gio Gonzalez added 171 strikeouts to his 15 wins while Dallas Braden highlighted his season with a perfect game. Andrew Bailey followed up winning Rookie of the Year by saving 25 games as the Athletics led the AL in ERA. The A’s did not hit a ton but Daric Barton led the AL in walks and was fifth with a .393 on-base percentage. Oakland was third with 156 stolen bases as Rajai Davis was second in the AL with 50 steals. Cliff Pennington added 29 steals while also displaying a steady glove at shortstop.
