Albert Pujols was not the MVP but still put up another monster year with his sixth 40 home run season. Matt Holliday’s first full season in St. Louis also was pretty good. Mid-season callup Jon Jay also played well by batting .300 in 105 games. On the mound, Adam Wainwright won 20 games for the first time and posted nearly identical numbers to 2009 in strikeouts (213) and innings pitched (230 1/3) while allowing 30 fewer hits (186). Chris Carpenter won at least 15 games for the fifth time while Ryan Franklin converted 27 saves to go along with a 1.03 WHIP.
