A thrilling season from start to finish features 11 4,000-yard passers, with New Orleans’ Drew Brees and Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger just shy of 5,000. … Nine threw at least 30 TD passes, led by Indianapolis’ Andrew Luck, who threw 40 … In Dallas, DeMarco Murray’s 1,845 yards rushing was almost 500 more than any other runner. He led 13 1,000-yard rushers (and six at 1,200+) …

Antonio Brown’s 1,698 yards led 23 1,000-yard receivers. Five teams had a pair of them. The group included New England tight end Rob Gronkowski and the best rookie crop of receivers ever, led by the New York Giants’ spectacular offensive rookie of the year Odell Beckham. Other fine freshmen were Tampa’s Mike Evans, Buffalo’s Sammy Watkins, Philadelphia’s Jordan Mathews, Carolina’s Kelvin Benjamin, New Orleans’ Brandin Cooks, Indy’s Dunta Muncrief, Jacksonville’s Allen Robinson and Miami’s Jarvis Landry.

But saving the best for last, New England’s Tom Brady threw four TD passes in the Super Bowl, the last one with two minutes left to bring the Patriots from behind against Seattle. Then, in a play to be debated for all-time, Russell Wilson’s pass from the New England one-yard line was intercepted in the final seconds to preserve the Patriots’ 28-24 victory over the defending champs.
