2015 Baseball Season Roster

  • Royals Reign: KC conquers Mets for first WS win in 30 years
  • Underdogs Rise: Cubs, Pirates, Blue Jays, Astros reach new heights
  • Youth Movement: Harper, Correa, Bryant leading sizzling cast of young stars

The pitching has seldom been better than it was in 2015 Cy Young winners Jake Arrieta (22-6, 1.77) and Dallas Keuchel (20-8, 2.48) and Dodgers duo Zach Greinke (19-3, 1.66 – the fifth lowest ERA since 1920) and Clayton Kershaw (16-7, 2.13, MLB-best 301 K) had astonishing stats. Arrieta threw one of the season’s five no-hitters. Max Scherzer threw two. Led by Chris Sale’s 11.8 K/9 IP – the 10th best mark in history – strikeout-per-inning pitchers were commonplace. The Mets rode the arms of young starting pitchers to the World Series. Kansas City’s unmatched bullpen won it.

And yet, after a 2014 season with only one 40-HR man, 2015 had nine. Toronto led the power parade with AL MVP Josh Donaldson (41), Jose Bautista (40) and Edwin Encarnacion (39) and won the AL East for the first time since 1993 … The Mets’ Daniel Murphy hit homers in six consecutive post-season games – something no one ever had done … NL MVP Bryce Harper hit ,330-42-99. His 1.109 OPS led three bashers with at least a 1.000 OPS:  Paul Goldschmidt (1.005) and Joey Votto (1.000). Harper, Votto and Goldschmidt also were 1-2-4 among six men with .400 on-base percentages.

Rookies of the year Kris Bryant and Carlos Correa each began the season in the minors and still topped 20 HR. They led one of the brightest rookie classes ever, including Cleveland SS Francisco Lindor, Minnesota slugger Miguel Sano, speedy OF Billy Burns, SP Lance McCullers, Toronto closer Roberto Osuna and National Leaguers Noel Syndergaard, Matt Duffy, Joc Pederson, Jung Ho Kang, Kyle Schwarber and Randal Grichuk.
