Full Summary

Cue the scriptwriters: 108 years since their last World Series win, the 103-win Cubs put together the best regular season in baseball. But – heartbreak? – they are down three games to one in the World Series to Cleveland, the American League team that has gone longest without a championship. No! With their Stengel-esque manager, this ultra-talented, but very young team rallies to win Game 7 in extra innings!

If the 2016 Major League season had nothing more to offer, it would be must-have for any simulation gamer.  But incredible individual performances include the 1.021 OPS from 40-year-old David Ortiz in his final season and the unexpected, tragic final season of Miami pitcher Jose Fernandez (16-8, 2.86, 12.5 K/9). MVPs Mike Trout and Kris Bryant, great-field/big-hit seasons by Nolan Arenado and Mookie Betts headline the season with the second most home runs in history. The Orioles alone, with HR champ Mark Trumbo, hit 253.

The Orioles also had one of the must-see cards of the season, closer Zach Britton (0.54 ERA, 47-for-47 saves). He and Dodger closer Kenley Jansen (47 saves, .150 BA against, 13.6 K/9) helped make this the Year of the Reliever, when WHIPS below 1.00 and K/9 rates above 12 were common – a year when power pitching and big swingers made this the highest strikeout season ever.

Check out the big seasons from Cy Young pitchers Max Scherzer and Rick Porcello, contenders Justin Verlander, Chris Sale, J.A. Happ, Kyle Hendricks, Johnny Cueto and more, as well as flamethrowers Dellin Betances (15.5 K/9!), Aroldis Chapman, Mark Melancon. Batting champs Jose Altuve and D.J. Lemahieu can handle them. So can sluggers Miguel Cabrera, Daniel Murphy, Brian Dozier, Corey Seager, Nelson Cruz, Robinson Cano, Joey Votto, Freddie Freeman and many more.
