The first Cincinnati pennant winner since 1940 had depth in power and pitching. 1B Gordy Coleman and 3B Gene Freese each hit 26 HR. Wally Post (.294-20-57) and Jerry Lynch (.315-13-50) gave the Reds a powerful LF platoon. Jim Brosnan (10-4, 16 saves) and Bill Henry (16 saves, 2.19 ERA) gave them the league’s best bullpen.
