Full Summary

Chicago Cubs (95-68, NL Wild Card):

The Cubs lost a one-game playoff for the National League Central Division title, but still had the second-best record in the NL. They did it with the NL’s highest team batting average (.258), though only MVP finalist Javier Baez (.290-34-111), LF Kyle Schwarber (26 HR) and 1B Anthony Rizzo (.283-25-101) hit for much power. Rizzo, Baez, SS Addison Russell, CF Albert Almora and RF Jason Heyward all are defensive 1s. Jon Lester (18-6, 3.32), Kyle Hendricks (14-11, 3.44), Cole Hamels (2.36 ERA) and closers Brandon Morrow (1.47 ERA, 22 saves) and Pedro Strop (2.26 ERA, 13 saves) were strong on the mound.
