In a season when seven teams won at least 11 games, the top-scoring team from each conference met in the Super Bowl. Playing in their first Super Bowl since 1969, when the Chiefs won in the last season of their American Football League, Patrick Mahomes passed for two fourth-quarter TDs to erase a 20-10 deficit.

The Baltimore Ravens flashed the NFL’s best record (14-2) thanks to flashy MVP QB Lamar Jackson, who combined explosive designed runs and scrambles (1,206 yards rushing, 6.9 avg) with a league-best 36 TD passes against just 6 interceptions.

Green Bay, with QB Aaron Rodgers (26 TD passes, 4 interceptions) and 19-TD RB Aaron Jones, also won 13 games, as did New Orleans, where QB Drew Brees (74.3% completions, 27 TD passes), RB Alvin Kamara (4.7 rush avg and 97 receptions) and WR Michael Thomas (149 catches), lead a team that scored 30+ points 11 times.

Tennessee RB Derrick Henry also emerged as a superstar, leading the NFL with 1,540 rush yards and tying Jones for the league lead with 16 rushing TDs. The Titans’ Ryan Tannehill led all QBs with a 117.3 passer rating.
