Bill Mazeroski’s walk-off blast in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 7 was the most famous home run in World Series history. It beat heavily favored New York after Pittsburgh had won its first pennant since 1927. SS Dick Groat won the NL batting championship and MVP award. Vern Law was the Cy Young winner.
