Strat-O-Matic Simulates 2017 AL Wild Card Game

Here at Strat-O-Matic, we’re all about playing our game and seeing how it compares to real life results. Here are our results for the last two World Series simulations.

This year’s Wild Card games are next up in our simulations. Tonight is the AL Wild Card game between Minnesota and New York and tomorrow we’ll have Colorado vs. Arizona.

If our simulation is any indication, tonight should be a great game!

 MINNESOTA vs. NEW YORK

Minnesota’s Ervin Santana and New York’s Luis Severino gave the fans a scoreless pitcher’s duel through the first few innings of this one. Severino wiggled out of a 2-on, 1-out situation in the first inning while Santana’s defense picked him up in the fourth inning – Byron Buxton threw out Didi Gregorius at home to keep the game scoreless through four. New York broke through in the bottom of the fifth with back-to-back doubles from Jacoby Ellsbury and Todd Frazier to take a 1-0 lead. Buxton’s one-out double in the top half of the seventh chased Severino from the game but David Robertson retired the next two batters to escape the trouble. Moving to the eighth inning, Jorge Polanco singled with two outs prompting New York to go to Aroldis Chapman to attempt a four out save. Chapman got Eddie Rosario to centerfield to end the eighth and recorded a 1-2-3 out ninth inning to secure the 1-0 for New York!
