The 1969 Miracle Mets featured some remarkable pitching, led by Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman and Gary Gentry. However, it was 109-win Baltimore that went into that year’s World Series as the heavy favorites. As the old adage goes, "great pitching beats great hitting," and New York proved that to be the case as they shocked the world in beating the O’s in five games, winning the first championship in franchise history.
