3-Minute Baseball: The Year of Cal Ripken Jr.

1983 proved to be quite the year for Cal Ripken, Jr. He was elected to his first of 19 All-Star Games, won his first of two MVP awards, set what would turn out to be career-highs in runs, hits and doubles, and of course, won his first and only World Series title. This week’s 3-Minute Baseball features a rematch of the 1983 World Series, in which Cal’s Orioles knocked off the Philadelphia Phillies, four games to one.
