Full Summary

Bottoms up: Two years earlier, Milwaukee was a 27-win, last-place team. Then they drafted UCLA’s Lew Alcindor (who did not change his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar until 1971-72) and traded for Oscar Robertson. Alcindor (league-best 31.7 ppg and 16 rpg) and Robertson (19.4 ppg, 8.2 apg) led the Bucks to 66 wins and the NBA title. Geoff Petrie (24.8 ppg) of expansion Portland was rookie-of-the-year over Bob Lanier, Spencer Haywood and Calvin Murphy.
