Full Summary

Two of the upstart league’s teams did not finish the season, but the other 12 sported dozens of players recognizable to NHL fans. None more so than the stars of the best WHA teams. Winnipeg (106 points, 345 goals) flaunted Bobby Hull on a line with Ulf Nilsson and Anders Hedberg. Quebec (104 points, 371 goals) had high-flying French Canadians Marc Tardif, Real Cloutier and Rejean Houle. Houston (104 points, 341 goals) had the most fascinating trio: 48-year-old Gordie Howe scored 32 goals and 102 points playing with his sons, LW Mark (39 goals) and D Marty (14 goals).
