In a season more notable for its defense, Russian Rocket Pavel Bure scored 60 goals to lead Vancouver to the Cup finals, while Sergei Federov’s finest season (56 goals, 120 points) helped Detroit to a division title. This was the first time the NHL had two Russians among its top 10 scorers. Bure and Federov were in the top five.
