Full Summary

Two years before the color-barrier was crossed in the Major Leagues, see future big-leaguers Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Monte Irvin, Satchel Paige, Don Newcombe, Sam Jethroe and more playing side-by-side with older Negro League all-time greats Josh Gibson (33 HR, 1.023 OPS), Buck Leonard (.340 BA, 1.015 OPS) and Cool Papa Bell (25 SB) – still terrific, but too old for futures in the Majors.

Integration of the Major Leagues would end the attraction of Negro Leagues. The Negro National League, won by the legendary Homestead Grays (92-62 in this creation with Gibson, Leonard and Bell) had only two more seasons. The Negro American League, won this time by the Cleveland Buckeyes (94-60) lasted longer, but with few teams. Enjoy the historic performances in this nearly last hurrah for a once-great league.
