In the AFC, Denver QB John Elway and RB Terrell Davis (1,538 rush yards) led with a 13-3 mark, but 11-5 New England had QB Drew Bledsoe, RB Curtis Martin, the No. 1 offense and the Super Bowl trip.   Second-year Carolina and Jacksonville amazed all by making the playoffs.
