Full Summary

The Philadelphia Eagles’ first Super Bowl victory, a dramatic win over The New England Patriots seeking their sixth ring, fit the 2017 NFL season perfectly – traditional powers and emerging teams in a league with a powerful mix of young and veteran superstars.

Perennial powerhouses New England, Pittsburgh were two of the NFL’s 13-game winners. But five divisions had new winners, including the 13-win Eagles and Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles and Jaguars went from worst to first while the Vikings, LA Rams and Saints went from third to first in their divisions.

Drew Brees (70 percent completions) and Tom Brady were still in the top tier of elite quarterbacks, but now so were Philly’s Carson Wentz (33 TD passes in 13 games) and the Rams’ Jared Goff (28 TD passes in 15 games) in their first full seasons as starters. They led two of the NFL’s highest-scoring offenses.

Todd Gurley, Le’Veon Bell, LeSean McCoy and Mark Ingram were top-five in rushing yards, but No. 1 was Kansas City rookie Kareem Hunt (1,327 yards, 4.9 average).

Only Bell (85) had more running-back receptions than rookies Alvin Kamara (81 for New Orleans) and Cristian McCaffrey (80 for Carolina).

Antonio Brown, Julio Jones and Larry Fitzgerald set the pace for wide receivers, but second-year man Tyreek Hill was the league’s No. 1 deep threat. The Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski was the All-Pro tight end again with 69 catches, but Giants’ rookie TE Evan Engram had 64 … On defense, the Browns’ rookie Myles Garrett impressed as a pass rusher (7 in 11 games), while two of the league’s top cornerbacks were rookies Marshon Lattimore of New Orleans and Tre’Davious White of Buffalo.
