Full Summary

If you can find more superlatives throw them in here to describe this explosive NFL season. In a year with more close games than ever, defending Super Bowl champ Green Bay started 13-0 and Aaron Rodgers threw 45 TD passes, but Eli Manning passed the 9-7 Giants to the title. Manning’s sensational 4,933 pass yards were merely fourth in the league as Drew Brees (5,476 yards, 46 TDs) and Tom Brady (5,235 and 39) surpassed Dan Marino’s single-season record, and Detroit’s Matthew Stafford topped 5,000 yards, too, with 41 TD tosses. Incredibly, Denver QB Tim Tebow, whose fourth-quarter dramatics led Denver from last place to first in the AFC West, and Carolina QB Cam Newton, who set the rookie record for pass yards and total TDs, rivaled the veteran record-setters for attention. New England’s Rob Gronkowski and New Orleans’ Jimmy Graham both topped the records for receiving yards by tight ends. Arizona rookie Patrick Peterson set a record for most punt returns of 80+ yards. Numerous other team and league records fell in a season that must be re-played to be appreciated.
