Full Summary

With the help of two future Hall of Fame left-handers, Philadelphia A’s Manager Mack won the first of his many pennants. Eddie Plank won 20 games and Rube Waddell defected from the National League and blazed to 24-7, 2.05 with 210 strikeouts in an era when 150 was impressive. But the league-swapping cut two ways, as feuding player-manager McGraw fled the AL to take over the New York Giants in the NL.
