Full Summary

The Red Sox opened Fenway Park and disrupted the A’s dynasty thanks to 22-year-old flamethrower Smokey Joe Wood (34-5, 1.91, 258 strikeouts, plus three World Series wins). Boston cut down the Giants, 26-game winner Rube Marquard and 23-game winner Christy Mathewson. Wood might not have been the best pitcher in 1912. Walter Johnson was 33-12, 1.39 with 303 whiffs.
