The ’29 A’s won the first of three straight pennants, dominating the Yankees by 18 games as Al Simmons hit .365-34-157 and Jimmie Foxx .354-33-117. In the NL, the Cubs won the first of four pennants in a 10-year span, thanks to sluggers Rogers Hornsby (.380-39-149) and Hack Wilson (.345-39-159). This is sick: 20-year-old Mel Ott stroked 42 HR for the Giants – and drove in 151 runs! P
